The submission makes a number of recommendations to support the long-term development of a balanced, secure, and sustainable rental sector.  The submission, which can be accessed here, calls for:

  • engaging tenants in the development of any proposal
  • ending the practice of providing long-term social housing in the private rental sector
  • developing a scheme of rent control
  • providing a model for affordable rental housing
  • reviewing the rent-a-room and Fair Deal schemes
