CHI Welcomes New Chairperson
January 28, 2025
We are delighted to announce Gerry McDonogh as our new Chairperson at Co-operative Housing Ireland. Gerry, a Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in finance and governance, has been an active member of our Board for the past two years. His insights and leadership will help us continue our mission to deliver high-quality, affordable housing and strengthen communities across Ireland.
We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Pearse O’Shiel, our outgoing Chair, whose tireless commitment to co-operative values and advocacy for more socially rented homes has left a lasting impact on our organisation. Under Pearse’s stewardship, we have continued to grow and innovate, always with the goal of meeting the housing needs of our members.
At CHI, we are proud to have a Board that includes seven elected member tenants—an approach that ensures resident voices are at the heart of our decision-making. In addition to Gerry’s appointment as Chair, we welcome our new Board members: Caitriona de Burca, Kevin Byrne, and Brian Savage, whose skills and perspectives will further strengthen our governance.
Finally, we want to thank the outgoing Board members—Nuala Savage, Derek Maher, Ken Burke, Michael Heaney, Regina Coakley, and Marianne Ward O’Leary—for their years of valuable service. Their commitment and expertise have been instrumental in shaping CHI’s progress to date.
Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this exciting new chapter together. We look forward to working with Gerry and our entire Board to keep growing Ireland’s co-operative housing movement, guided by our shared values of community, collaboration, and mutual respect.
