From Sunrise to Sunset: Julianna Kalan’s Journey to Wellness and a New Home

Today, we’re sharing an inspiring story about Julianna Kalan, whose journey is a testament to resilience, hope, and the power of positive thinking.

Julianna moved to Ireland from her native Hungary seven years ago and instantly fell in love with her new home. “Now, every morning I get to see the sunrise,” she says.

Overcoming Health Challenges

Three years ago, Julianna faced a major health scare when she was diagnosed with a tumour in her pituitary gland at the base of her brain. Thankfully, she responded well to treatment. This experience profoundly impacted her, leading her to prioritise her health and wellbeing. Today, Julianna is studying online to become a health and wellbeing coach, aiming to help others lead healthier lives.

Finding a New Home

Amid her studies, Julianna works in a local café kitchen, where she is kept busy preparing food for locals in the community.  

Previously on (Housing Assistance Payment), Julianna was delighted when she was notified by Galway County Council that she qualified for a Co-operative Housing Ireland social-rented home.   

Her new, light-filled home is a haven of peace for Juliana – providing her plenty of space in which to meditate, exercise, cook and follow creative pursuits. The dual aspect windows allow her to enjoy the beauty of both sunrise and sunset each day.

A Bright Future

Julianna’s new home has given her peace of mind. And she hopes it may also be a step towards her dream of opening her own café, where she aspires to serve a variety of multi-national cuisines.  

Julianna’s journey has been about more than just overcoming obstacles; it’s about thriving and helping others to do the same. She continues to work on herself and gain new skills, with the hopes of sharing these learnings with her community.
