Photos from CHI’s unveiling of ‘Out of this world’ Spaceman street art make the Herald and the Independent

Co-operative Housing Ireland Members living in Island Key, an apartment complex in East Wall, Dublin, unveiled a unique piece of street art developed in consultation with street artist, Shane Sutton. The street art depicts a Spaceman overlooking the apartments and was unveiled by the Members and Lord Mayor of Dublin, Caroline Conroy.

Members gathered to unveil and celebrate the street art together, many of whom had watched the artist painting the image from their balconies. The image can be used with augmented reality (AR) filters, to make the Spaceman interactive for children in the locality. Shane has incorporated pictures drawn by the children in the AR filters, adding to the individuality of the piece.

The street art depicts a Spaceman overlooking the apartments and was developed by the artist with Members during a series of consultations. 

CHI is a leading Approved Housing Body working with Local Authorities and others to meet the housing needs of low-income households on social housing waiting lists. As a representative body, CHI champions co-operative principles in delivering homes and supporting communities.

Shane Sutton, artist, pictured in front of a unique piece of street art which he created for Co-operative Housing Ireland (CHI) Members living in Island Key, an apartment complex in East Wall, Dublin. To reflect the spirit of the community, the Spaceman was developed by the artist with Members during a series of consultations. The street art was welcomed with an unveiling ceremony involving local CHI Members.
